Anybody have inputon a Stryke AV12MKII used in 3.0 cuft with twin 15" PR's? This will be a HT sub in a fairly large open room (about 600 sq.ft) Below are some details for the website, there are 3 different enclosure options. I'll be building my own enclosure and like the 3.0 cuft option:
Thunder 12.3 3 cubic foot dual 15" 1400g PR F3 17.9Hz

Christof,
You are pretty safe with alignment suggestions from Stryke 😉
What's to say about it?
The AV12 is a great driver (I got 2 of them), looks great, performs well in a good size box (doesn't need a big ugly box like Shiva but moves air like a bigger more expensive monster).
I personally prefer vented and sealed boxes to passives. They take up too many sides of the box and a well designed vent can do the same job - if you flare them enough, there is no performance advantage to passives.
An alternative is to go with a pair of sealed subs (smaller) and use a PA amp with some decent power. It probably won't cost much more than a single PR sub.
And it's about time we saw some more AV12 subs (everyone seems to go for Shiva).

I have the exact thing you are asking about.
It is the AV12MKII in 3.0 cu. ft., with two 1400g 15" Passive Radiators. I enjoy it very much. It is powered by the Parts Express 500w plate amp. It delivers down deep, and I haven't found its limits with program material, though I have managed to get the passive radiators to the ends of their travel with a 20 Hz sinewave, really loud. It's definitely a man's machine in terms of output, but it is also solid as a rock on musical transients, and just plain sounds really good.
Unfortunately, AV12 drivers are not available at this time, I don't think. You'll have to email John, the proprietor of AE Speakers, to find out. (AE was formerly Stryke Audio.)

Hi Everyone,
As stated, the AV12's are currently out of stock. I'm waiting to get final parts quotes tuesday next week now. I have quotes on everything but the motors. All AE Speakers woofers will be made in house now, so I can control the parts supply and quality. I'm still looking at 3 months to get AV woofers in stock right now. Now that I bought out the parts inventory from Lambda Acoustics, there are several woofers I can do that will give pretty equivalent performance in the same enclosures, particularly the dual PR enclosure. You can email me for more info.

Bam, are you planning on getting your sub on the net?
I think it would be great to see more AV series subs online 😉

Well, I'm having difficulty with my university's web space here. I used to be able to access it right from my own computer but now I have to use a FTP program which is inconvenient. Also, my parents lost our digital camera, which had a lot of early pictures of the sub on it, so any pictures that I would take now will be of the sub as it sits in the corner of my dorm room, with a bunch of my roommate's stuff sitting on top of it.
Lambda drivers
You might want to wait until John is able to start supplying Lambda drivers. Lambda Acoustics was started by Nick McKinney and he made some really good subs until he went under. I have a Lambda 12 inch mated to a single PR which sounds really good. I have a 250 wrms plate amp, also from John Janowitz that drives this sub.

I think he is currently building the Lambda drivers. You'll have to visit the forum section of his web site to find the information, though.
