Coming From Mobile Audio

I've actually been introduced to this site by Patrick Bateman with his interesting threads on HLCD in which I use in a mobile application. I feel like I've nearly reached the top when it comes to product research in the mobile audio industry, so I'm wanting to migrate to home audio.

I've only had dealings with the conventional equipment (AVRs and 5.1/7.1 HT systems), but I really want to go big when I move to New Zealand. I lean heavily towards sound quality and tend to get bored/annoyed with SPL people unless they do it professionally.

I've noticed right off the bat a few things in home audio that one would absolutely not see in mobile audio (probably due to space restrictions) and that intrigues me quite a bit! I've been looking around for some time, but I find that I get lost in information since I haven't really been able to be completely introduced to this new type of audio. If I were doing an ideal mobile audio setup I would employ the following (in that order):

Digital output (S/PDIF) from CarPC (essentially a head unit ran from a computer)
Digital signal processor
Amplifiers (depending on power distribution, may be individual amps for speakers)
Speakers (I prefer HLCD/PA drivers)

In a home audio setting, I'm looking for quality products that I can work with easily, and I do have many questions! Is there a thread that I can be pointed towards for newbies looking to get into home audio? Thanks a ton!
