If one is building a power supply (300V or so) using a combination of RC and LC filter sections is there a preference for the order in which they appear (i.e. CLCRC v.s. CRCLC)?
You want the CLC filter first, to get rid of the large rectification sawtooth.
The LC is a second order filter, so it has a sharper cutoff but without much DC loss.
