Hi all,
Just got a Classe DR-8 that has me wondering....
First problem is that the amp's power switch doesn't do anything. When I plug the amp in, it turns on (relays click) and the amp plays. To turn it off, I have to unplug it.
So, I popped the top and looked around. Well, there's a single red wire that isn't attached to anything and the end is covered in electrical tape. It runs from the small PCB at the back of the amp right next to the IEC jack. So that's unusual.
That PCB has 3 red LEDs on it that do not come on. I don't know if that is good or bad...
The binding posts were replaced with nice hardware, but looking at another picture here (http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/solid-state/45771-classe-dr-8-topology.html), the cap and resistor across each channel are not present.
I found the service manual on the Classe website and it has a schematic but it's not complete. Does anyone know what the values of the cap and resistor are that are across the output?
So, I think my power switch might be bad (or my switch isn't properly wired)and I'm missing the RC filter on the output.
Does anyone know how this beast is supposed to look on the inside??? This is what mine looks like....
