Hi Guys:
I have a Classe CD/DVD-1 player that I had for a while.
It started not reading any discs so I puchased a replacement laser assembly (VAL6011/01 and installed it & desoldered carefully the solder bridges and fired it up.
It has a Philips SD-3 Monoboard (Servos) & as indicated a VAL6011/02 laser assembly.
I used a VAL6011/01 which I assume is identical but I don't know.
It now reads about 1 in a 100 times.... basically doesn't work lol!
I put the CD or DVD in and it do the following:
For a CD it will spin the CD & then the laser turns on & focuses on the inner disc looking for the Table of Contents (TOC). It will start with a blurred beam and then gets a tightly focused RED beam and then the LED turns off and then the disc stops turning. It will do this 3 times and then will open the drawer. All during this the Display says "READ". After the 3rd try the Display will say "OPEN" and the drawer opens up.
For the DVD disc it will do the same thing but only performs this "read" once and then the drawer will open up.
Sometimes the Display will say "DISC" and then gets "locked up" and stays in this state for infinity unless I turn it off.
So my path forward is the following:
1) So let me know if there are any adjustments that I can perform
2) Also I am looking for equivalent Philips DVD players from around the Year 2001 that has the same DVD drive to swap out drives.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance,

More thoughts
Looking at it again..... Im thinking that the issue here is that it struggles to focus on the TOC for a CD and the "Info" for a DVD.
It reads a DVD about 1 in 10 times (10%) & 0 out of 10 (0%) times for a CD, so I'm thinking that there is some type of "restiction" be that a mechanical impedance that it can't see/find/reach the TOC (inner part of disc) correctly or an issue with the LED beam which seems to be very strong and sharp...
Is it harder for this dual laser via thru the single aperture to read a CD versus a DVD?
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance
