Hi everybody,
My son had ordered this amp:
http://www.audiodigit.com/index.php?section=90
and talked me into helping him to put it together...
While I'm not totally new to electronics DIY, I'm a bit concerned about blowing a 228Euro board.
My biggest question is about the toroid. Their site says '18V secondary 160W or more'. If I understand correctly, the actual transformer VA rating would need to be = 160 / 1.41, i.e. only about 115VA. Can this be right? If so, I could safely get a 160VA transformer from Plitron which is almost next door to where I live. Or should I get something with a higher rating?
2nd question: where do Torontonians shop for good (and CHEAP - yeah, I know the two don't mix, but still) speaker posts, RCAs, enclosures, etc.? I've dealt with Active Components & Sayal in the past, but would like a 2nd opinion.
TIA - ardo.

It seems that way. Personally I would go a bit higher than 160W, perhaps 230W or such. Let's wait for more suggestions.
I don't know about Torontonians. But try Parts Connexion. Not so much low-price stuff, but usually some of the lowest prices on what they sell. Great dealer.
