Hi Guys, I have a 350-0-350 transformer, i will be using a 5U4 rectifier and just wondering would a choke rated at 400v dc is ok? Thanks Richard

It will probably work ok. The rectifier drops around 45V.

Just worried that that voltage might exceed over 400v dc and burn/short to the frame of the choke

Most such parts can survive a 2x high-pot test.
You could put the choke in the negative side. This has the added advantage of making it harder to get the grounding wrong, as you are no longer tempted to connect the secondary CT directly to the chassis.
