You can check out the discussion going on at mp3car . com forums about this new screen, look for "New VGA touchscreen". This is a brand new by starvision. The only person selling them right now is http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=48636&item=3091743795 you can check out the specs there, it says that it has 16.7 million colors which is much better than lilliput. I'm pretty sure no one has any idea if this can be stripped yet, but if it can this could be a cheaper alternative to lilliput and hopefully built a little better inside. Also they are available in the U.S. so that is a plus. Hopefully somone over at mp3car can give us some pics of the inside.

No it's not. I read the entire thread on MP3car and it's clearly not as good as the lilliput, particularly since the guy selling them can't seem to keep them in stock.
Who really cares if it CAN run 1600x1200? I won't be legible on such a low native res screen, which is lowere than the lilli, by 20 or so pixels if i remember...

Yeah u hit the mark on that, that screen run on that reso as a normal monitor u wouldnt see anything at all cos it would be so small lol, xga on the lilliput before i stripped it was tiny as it is, projected, perfect.

The lilliput does go up the next reso above xga, well mine does, but there is no gain, not unless u want blurred text.

Btw, the lilliputs native is 800x480 so its quite abit higher then this one.

Exactly. It's prolly not worth savin 50 bucks to lose that many pixels, with a screen that is already low res. If they ever come up with a 7" screen that actually is NATIVE in some kind of 1600x resolution, I might get on board, but I suppose that would cost an arm and a leg.

Anyways, for projections purposes, the Lilli seems a better choice than that thing.

You can get a xga native in a 6inch, but at $768 no thanks lol, to be quite honest i realy dont think they will make the 7inch wide screens natve in xga, that goes for all lcd monitors, because its too small to see anything on the screen when used in xga, and even for dvd playback there is no gain at that size above 800x600, so i think we maybe at its peak for the small screens for some time.

I got to admit though, the lilliput isnt bad used in a projector, its a shame the contrast is only 200:1, thats realy its biggest fault, screen door isnt such an issue as the pixels are small, i wouldnt go running the thing at 200inches though lol, i run mine at 100inches wide screen diagonal, and its about right. Still cheaper then buying a tv at that size lol.

No acually it is the same native resolution as lilliput

Native(Physical) Resolution: 800 X 480
Supported Resolution: 640 X 480-1600 X 1200

I dont know where you got the idea that it wasn't the same native res so there really isn't much of a difference between the two just that this is cheaper and comes from the U.S. This guy is having problems at the time with shipping but once that is settled these should be good panels.

the link 11steve posted...that's the lilliput ace's usin'.
the price is reasonable.

@joe2000chevy

yeah, it can be stripped easily. there's a german how to .pdf
on www.wschmid.de . but do not bend the small brown ribbon cable as he did and don't let the small pcboard dangling. the cable is very sensitive and breaks easily when bend.
