Hi guys......

....did anybody test this winding machine? To spend ~40€ on this and have no hassle with an electric drill solution for example or other way round -is what I'm asking myself. I would just go for it if this guy using it in a Youtube video didn't mention possible problems regarding this counter module. Sometimes it apparently doesn't work properly....

Do you know anything about this one or what would you recommend in general?
Thank you!
Poppy

Used one similar to that before. IME, the biggest issue with the counter is if it is not reset properly. If the numbers are not well lined up in a row with each other after resetting the counter, then try carefully resetting again until the number display looks right. Some testing should show what 'right' looks like 🙂
I have a variant of that - it has a chuck though. The counter issue is just a road-bump, not a show stopper. You can keep your eye on it for the first rotation, if it doesn't increment then give it another reset.
It does need affixing to a stable base or maybe clamp it. I lazily hotmelted mine to an MDF base, sometimes I need to add weights to that to keep everything stable.

Do you have the NZ-5 maybe? ....

For this one I would have to pay about 20€ more than for the NZ-1 (60€ instead of 40€) and also would have to order it from China and so wait for a month. The NZ-1 could be here in 2 days, it's available in my country.
Would it be worth it though? -additional 20€ and a month of waiting?

Mine has the same digital turns counter as your original image but instead of a fixed mandrel it has a chuck which allows a variety of diameter mandrels (drill bits in practice) to be used. The limitation of the fixed one is when you want to wind small bobbins.... Do check that the diameter of your mandrel suits all the bobbins you have in mind for it.
The analog turns counter does have a certain attraction but I'd be a bit concerned about parallax.

Hi Poppy,
I have it and IIRC I paid around 20€ directly from China and had to fix some alignment issues with the handle, which was easy to do. These are basic mechanical devices, built a bit rough, but will possibly work forever with a little bit of oil. Good control of winding process, but of course driven by hand. Needs to be secured to some post, as Abraxalito said.

Did you pay 20€ including shipping? Where did you find it this cheap?
In China they're cheap - Taobao price is around $11. But they're also heavy so shipping isn't at all cheap.
Hi,
just re-checked... shipping was extra, all in all I paid a little bit more than 30€, sorry. In the bay.
