Cheap 12AX7 Preamp add Pot?

Add the stereo log pot before the board input, but in the same box.
Depending on your source, 10k to 100k could work.

It's a Leslie 147, designed for use with Hammond B3/C3, but I'd like to build something that lets me use it with portable keyboards. A Hammond preamp is sending the Leslie signal up to ~6VAC RMS (https://www.dairiki.org/HammondWiki/PreampOutputLevel?version=2), so I think it is amplification I need, not buffer right? Would a buffer be like a step-up transformer to match impedance?

I already have built a simple AC power and tremelo relay control (pins 2-5), but my understanding is that the input signal (pins 1 & 6) needs to be boosted. Other forums recommend using an Art MP Tube Preamp (https://organforum.com/forums/forum...s-accessories/39480-signal-pre-amp-for-leslie), so I thought utilizing a simple 12ax7 would do the trick, but wanted to add a pot to make it adjustable. Thank you all so much for your attention and expertise!
