celestion MP1 speakers

I have a pair of these I bought for a dollar a few years back and I think they sound pretty good for small speakers . My question on them is the info on each speaker states 8 ohms and I did find one or 2 spec sheets that stated 8 ohms , but I found one sheet that stated 4 ohms . When I disconnected them from my stereo to hook them up to my lepai 2020 I thought "wonder what these show for resistance " and I checked them and I got 3.5 ohms from both of them so I figure they're a 4 ohm speaker . I'm just curious if there was some reason celestion labeled them as 8 ohm speakers when they are actually 4 ohm ? I also checked the woofer and tweeter individually from one of the speakers and got about 3 ohms on the woofer and 6 on the tweeter , so i guess running in parralel thru the crossover (???) would work out to be a 4 ohm speaker . I was also wondering if I could do something to make them work on my sherwood receiver , because that shuts off if it gets a speaker less than 6.5 ohms ( or something like that they specify use only 8 ohm speakers ) . I know I had a speaker with it's tweeter burnt up in it and I didn't know it and my receiver kept shutting down . Losing that tweeter lowered the resistance and was causing the receiver to shut down . Thanks

Whilst it is unusual for a speaker to have a dc resistance of 3R and a AC impedance of 8R its not impossible. They may have rated the imppedance on the average AC impedance through the operating frequency range, just past FS to 6dB point is not uncommon.
