Celestion HF1300 problem

It measures 3,7 ohm, it works but at a lower volume than the other one. Just opened and closed it, now it distorts like if something doesn't move freely inside.
Forgiving my naive explanation, could someone help me to fix it?
Thank you.

Its a long time since I took apart a HF1300, but you may have to centre the voice coil in the magnetic gap. Perhaps use some white noise for this. Did the voice coil look OK? Mine were obviously burnt.

I have many speakers, inc. Spendor BC1, BC2, B&W, DM1, DM2, DM2a, DM4, that use the bigger magnet 16 Ohm Celestion HF1300, never had a problem with those in over 40 years. In have some B&W DM3's, they uses Celestion HF1400, which is a 1300 with a deeper bigger magnet.

Forgot, I have Ditton 10's and Ditton 15's as well, they may well use the same HF1300 as in the Counties. 15's often come up on ebay.

In your first post you say:

"Just opened and closed it, now it distorts like if something doesn't move freely inside."

So, I guess that you must have had it apart. As I mentioned, was a long time ago I took apart a HF1300, but the screws on the front are the way in. If you Google Celeston HF1300 and look at images, you should see the construction.

Found the problem... Checked for continuity and it's ok. Any chance to save the voicecoil?

HF1300 VC repair

Does the tweeter work ok after you replaced the coil? I changed the VC on my HF1300 last night. My original VC was totally ruined so I bought a new VC from AudioParts. Cut away the remains of the old one and glued the new one in place. I had to unwind the VC due to too high ohm. I unwinded it down to 3,8 ohm. I will test it tonight.
