Does anyone have any pictures/guides of diy ceiling mounted projectors.
I did some searches, but couldn't really find any.
thanks!

Yep, that's a nice one. I'm very close to starting my pj build, and I'm using that unit as a base line for how I expect mine to look. Making the enlosure is relatively simple task. I just need to work out a few ideas with lighting and optics before I start bench testing everyting.
I hang lots O’ projectors, though for commercial apps. The preferred method is to tie to the building infrastructure with “Unistrut” and use a 1.5” pipe (Home Despot; buy a length & they will cut & thread it for you) for length & a “Chief” projector mount. Bolt, toggle, whatever two strips of strut to your structure centered @ the right distance from your screen, in consideration of your projector’s lens throw (check the manual for up/down throw, distances for screen fills, etc.). Then, using the appropriate strut hardware, bolt another pair of “Unistruts” across the previous two. That gives you “love” in both directions to move your burning lunchbox around to land image on the screen. Then you get into the fine adjustments with the mount itself.
Do not adjust any geometry via the projector controls unless you have to due to structural issues. Whether side or vertical keystone: get it out in the hanging, not the projector keystone adjustment. They invariably distort the image. Also, when fixing keystone, remember that the smaller part of the keystone is closer to you, the larger further away. It takes a little time to get this right, but your hours of enjoying a fine image are well worth the effort.
One last tip: paint this whole mess before you put it up! Quick drying flat black or whatever the significant other approves of.

I will try to dig up a couple digital pics of this process. I have them somewhere…
Good luck!
