Rather than start a new thread, I thought I'd resurrect this.
Does anyone know whether CDM4/19 can be directly replaced with CDM4/36?

You can extract the laser mech from a cdm4/19 and place it on a cdm4/36 (i did it and it works, the lasers are identical).
but the motors are different... so you can only swap the complete laser bracket.

i have not experience with the cdm4/11, i have never seen it 'live'.
but the cdm4/36 (mounted on my cd10) is mechanically identical in the case to the cdm4/19, the 36 is metallic and the 18 is plastic, and there is difference in the motors, but the lasers are identical...
the cdm4/11 seems to me completely different in the case (i don't know electronically), but maybe the lasers are identical...
let's try to see this gallery and make a compare:

Cheers for the link and your help! I think that CDM4/11 is a composite version of CDM1mk2. Am sure I read somewhere that someone successfully replaced CDM4/11 mech with CDM1 Mk2. I think they use the same hall motor.
