I just replaced the laser in my CD63 because it was sometimes skipping. It cured the problem.
But now (a couple of months after the change) it won't read some disks. But will play others fine. It will read a CD-R, scratched old one. But not a new one. Examlpes these not a general pattern.
Does anyone have any ideas as to where I could start tracking down the fault?

I've had many problems (in other players) with the same VAM transports. It's almost as if the new (VAM) replacements are a bit unreliable.
Hopefully There will be Marantz experts around here that may know information more relevant to your player.

OK I've just tried again (few hours break) the problem cds again. They work, although one of them after a few times of turning on and off. Sounds fine when they play. Is this a known fault?
New CD63 laser won't read?
Hi,
Maybe clean laser lens with de-natured alcohol or adjust trimmer resister at laser pcb to slightly increase power supply to enhanced reading. Usually it works. Good Luck.
