Hi,
I just opened up an old Philips CD160 which I had laying around.
It has the TDA1541 and SAA7220 but in the spot where I'd expect to see a SAA7210 theres a set of connector pins linked to a second board sitting above the first with a chip marked MAB 8441P T012 and a couple of smaller chips. I assume that this is doing a similar job to a 7210 but haven't been able to find any information on it.
Anyone have any information on this?
All I've done is change the opamps for LME4972s with 470uf stargets and changed the 3 caps around the 1541 for 470uf pana FCs and the sound is really detailed, seems much more so than other TDA1541 players that I've had and modified.
Regards
Pete

Hi Pete,
If you need service manual for your player I'm willing to send...but this one have regular SAA7210 servo decoder, go figure😕
Edit: You got me confuse for a sec., it has MAB84441P/T012 micro processor also in schematic.

Thanks, that would be great.
It's quite common in early Philips type players.
I believe it is a "bug-fix" for logic problems.
The basic board is used in many similar player of the time.

The MAB pcb replaces just another MAB controller. Seems they could not get all the fuctions right away in just one ic. Or they forgot something.
The 7210 is something else. It's there, the only dip40 chip. But the print could be different, e.g. M4804A.
So the pcb does not replace the 7210.
