You know those auto-reverse decks where a cassette recorded on one side doesn't play correctly if flipped and played in the other direction.
I've never encountered a unit that played them correctly and I had several car head units and decks. For example the Grundig 7500 RDS was an expensive and high-end head unit at that time (about 1200 German Marks). But I'm focusing on home units.
Recently I restored two Sony MHC series stereos and now after cleaning, and replacing belts and pinch rollers, I would like to calibrate them. I trust my recorded tapes on my ancient Pioneer CT-606 (next restore candidate), but as it also was repaired before including head replacement, the head may be not correctly aligned.
Is there any alignment cassette I can buy ?
I've found Gennlab but I don't know which one to order, since he has several for several models and types of calibration.
Is one of You with a high end deck (Nakamichi comes to me in mind) willing to record me one at the correct speed and level and azimuth alignment and send me it. I would pay of course.

Head azimuth can be adjusted in an easy way. Play a pre-recorded cassette (factory recorded, not on a cassette recorder). Turn off Dolby B. Listen to the hiss. Adjust the azimuth for maximum hiss. Program material with low volume music or speech is best for this adjustment.
