I'd like to know where i can get a cheap DC-DC converter, 12v to +-15v is preferable, for car applications. It really doens't even need to be a big supply. It will power just signal processors. I really want to put the emphasis on cheap.

If you use the SG3525
Don't scrimp on the output capacitors, I use low ESR types from Nicchicon or Mallory. This is one of <b>many</b> areas where a switcher can go really wrong. <p> To further quiet the supply down, consider using a pair of linear regulators - 78L15 and 79L15 - only 100ma and you have to design for the overhead -- but it's a cheap trick which gets ride of some of the switching noise. <p> If you want cheap, place the entire supply in a conduit (steel) box. If you want really cheap -- do as I have and place it in a junked PC power supply box.

I once asked Nat Semi's tech rep if I could stack switchers (this wasn't the LM3524 or LM3525, but a SEPIC unit for a boost converter) -- one on top of each other -- the answer is yes, although, they much prefer you to purchase one of their newer, higher current and more expensive chips. So one of these days I'll try it with the SG3525 of which I still have about 20 hanging around.

where is the best place to find one of these chips. also, i may one day want to build a couple extra circuts to sell to people (being in college, and having expensive hobbies, I might need to generate income from my other hobbies), and I think that circut is copyrighted.
I may be getting a semi-broken amp soon, i'm looking for one with a working power supply. I'm not sure if i'll be able to modify it to produce less power. the semi-broken amp is a bonus becuase it works like a project enclosure (big and metal), and has terminals built in. I'll post more info later.
