Hey guys
i juet get this thing as a gift ( used )
http://www.kicker.com/sites/default/files/2007%20CompVR%20Box%20d01%20Web.pdf

can i use it to augment the bass for a home small patio setup
( family reunions and stuff )
i will use 2 8 inches 2 way KLH speakers i get from kmart a couple of years
but as those are like bookshelf speakers they lack the bass oomph of subs

my question is , the kicker sub is designed to be on a car or suv trunk
can i use it facing the wall or something on a corner to make the KLH's
appear to sound bigger ??
or is just a plain no
i just want a dirt cheap boom box sound ,nothing fancy
Thanks
Max.

ok, so i am going to test but....
i have a question, does i need subsonic filter for this box to prevent over excursion of the driver and fry it or break it
if so, at what freq you think the high pass must be
the info at link i posted is very scarce, it only says 800w rms
and is from the manufacturer

You can test with ±50W, no worries about over excursion then.

Ohh great
i have a cown drivecore XLS 2000 that can pump 1050 watts at 2 ohms
and looks like those boxes can be wired for 2 or 4 ohms
according to the manufacturer spec sheet

so if i wire to 2 ohms i can exceed the 800w rms rating on those
or stick to 4 ohms where the amp can only pump 650
but still i have never heard much of over excursion on the car audio arens
does the car amps have subsonic filters built in ?

I'm not in the car-amp hobby but it's very possible!

Your amp... give it to me! lol
It says on the website:

- Integrated PureBand™ Crossover System for better performance and control

- Peakx™ Limiters provide maximum output while protecting your speakers

Dig out the manual... 😉

hey bart yeah i was aware of the minimalistic dsp capabilites of my amp
but they dont have setable high pass and low pass for the sub
and high pass for the tops
it only let you set the 2 way crossover freq
but you cant filter subsonics ( below 40hz)

Well, I read a lot that mini-dsp is very flexible and not to expensive. Would be a very good combo with the Crown.
On your sub there's this:
Note: The use of a subsonic filter will significantly increase the power handling. The power handling specifications in these charts are
calculated using a 25Hz, 24dB per octave subsonic filter. Measurements based on 4 ohm voice coil models.

haaa i missed that where was it 😱

Ouuu!! found it... it was the fine print on the bottm.,
mmmmm,.. i wonder if those things can go that low to be effective

and i assume the 24dB per octave subsonic filter is LR

No way on earth that car sub is 98db/w efficient.
If you use the Crown on the K-mart speakers they should explode nicely... My XLS goes into protect when I run it hard on 4ohm's so I expect that a 2ohm load would need to be watched more closely.
