I went a different route with my sub amp since the amp I was working on has nothing but issues . One day I will repair it but in the mean time I’m using different amps .
My amps consist of 2x Digital designs M5A’s for the subwoofers.
A digital designs D4.100 for the mids
And a D4.75 for the tweeters .
My head unit is an Alpine ILXA-W650.
The head unit has an eq I believe crossovers and other adjustments like time correction .
My question is adding this piece a Benefit for the system or just a waste of money and I should just use the headunit and set everything up through it .

Are you trying to do a active crossover for the mids/tweets
Would have to read the the manuals for details.
Believe the Alpine is 6 output
and the active pre is also 6 input
advertised as "12" because its low level and high level.
seems like they basically do the same thing.
But be interesting to confirm.
Its basically 3 channels either way
Front, rear, sub
6 is a nicer number, but its stereo
so yes " 6" inputs/outputs for 3 channels.
for actual active crossover, seems like
a amplifier with suitable functions would work
for Mid and tweets.
Far as EQ and time delay
might as well use the on screen functions
of the alpine.
but correct it is a nice pre.
which uses phone for onscreen functions.
otherwise it seems manufactures
are including similar functions inside the head unit.
Keep in mind you might have to wire a parking brake switch
for some on screen functions, or trick it with another switch

It's hard to beat 1/3-octave EQ, provided it's capable of applying it to two separate channels. And that IS a lot of functionality for $700. And a good-ole-boy Okie company to beat!
But if the Alpine already has the control you need, why spend the extra? Honestly, I'd be surprised if you need time correction for car audio. (But of course, others may disagree . . 😉 ) The maximum path-time in a big 1970's sedan is still only about 6 to 8 milliseconds. And you can only correct it for 1 occupant. Aren't we all carpooling?
Cheers
