I was trying to quote this post:

The poster added several large images to their post. They take up a lot of room and are not necessary, but I would like to have the text. So I selected "reply" and attempted to delete the image links or references from the OP. They do not delete!
How to do that, apart from manually copying the text into a quoted section?

I just went to that post, hit Reply and deleted all the images by choosing each and hitting the Delete button on my keyboard. On the Mac that is also the backspace button. Maybe you have to hit backspace to kill images?
Rarely do I use the Reply button. I just select the text I want to quote and right click. Very handy!

And on Windows I just put the cursor after the last word that says 'great' of the main text and hit delete. One press for each image deletion.
To help clarify what Pano said, on an older Mac it is the back/delete key. The one with an x inside an arrow.
On newer ones, it's the delete key.
The backspace key doesn't do it, it just moves the cursor.
If you want to reply as Michael said, you highlight the text and it gives you a tab, no need to right click.
