Hi - I am considering purchasing the Aune T1 DAC/headphone tube amp. However, most reviews describe the sound as warm, soft and quite bassy. I tend to like sharper trebles and less bass. Can anyone reccommend a 6922 tube which might go more towards this type of sound.
I know, I know - if you don't like the typical signature sound of tubes why not just go for a digital amp? Because the T1 is just so damn good looking.
Hope someone can help.

The EH 6922 is actually 6Н23П-EB (6n23p-ev) and it's good. However, it has a reputation for not being "warm". Audition the equipment and form your own opinion. Tube "rolling" is likely to be unproductive, given your voicing preferences.
Thanks for the response Eli. Another forum has been passing this amp between members who have all found the supplied tube a little too 'soft', and have swapped it with better results: ECC88, Jan Philips 6922, and 6N23P-EB have all given slightly better definition in the mids and trebles. I was just hoping that there might be a tube particularly known for a crisper sound.
Amendment: the standard unit comes with 6N11
Ah... a poor chinese tube.
You can't go wrong with a NOS 6N23P-EV (the -EV suffix is important).
You can also try some Philips 6922.

Yes, less noise, more durability and better sound!
