FE500H
5 inch
4 ohm
10w
$2 usd each.
Made in Taiwan

The FE looks like a Fostex number, but a search didn't provide any results. Looks like they could be used for a Fruglephile effort. Not too much of a risk at $4us a pair. I haven't contacted the retailer, but there is no mention of T/S parameters on the site.

Anybody know anything I don't

Good ol' Dave...

I was expecting you to reply.

$4usd isn't much of a risk but, "Canada Post Rates, shipping and packing minimum of US$12/C$18 for any insured air shipment up to 1kg." If that company was local, I would already have a few pairs!
They also have some cool nixie tubes...

That is a bit ridiculas... Canada Post probably only wants that for a case of em. We can consider it local, i have a buddy who can go down and pick them up.

Here is what they had to say: "these have a paper surround, fairly heavy duty, the rear magnet is quite massive. They sound pretty good, they were designed originally as the speaker in Midland mobile radios, and were capable of pretty incredible level, for paging when the user was out of the vehicle. We have about 3 3/4 cases left (from 25)."

If you are going to get your friend to pick some up, please let me know first. I would appreciate if you could get some extra for me.(I don't know how many - my brother might want some, too)

I'm thinking on how many too. They will be lacking in the bottom, and if arrayed will need a tweeter line too, but they are so cheap one is tempted to use many of them Perhaps a dodecahedron...

Just let me know.

dave

Just what i need -- more speakers 🙄

With no specs, there are no numbers to plug in to do the math...

This may sound silly, but outside of high $$$ equipment, Is there any way to DIY speaker testing with a computer/soundcard/meter setup?
I've always figgured that someone has to have had the same thought(s) about this and not had the $$ to spend on equipment.
