Actually this is not a hot product or maybe this is not fresh news but sounds very very interesting.
The mobo has onboard vga, six channel sound, lan, CPU, aaaand most important is connector for LVDS module !!!
I know some guy was going to try this mobo but I am not sure about his destiny lol
So we need some input from expert guys lol ( like 18wheeler 🙂 )

What we need to run a laptop lcd screen with this mobo? I think we do not need a controller unit, we only need a cable to connect it. Is this true ?

This has been looked into before. At the time the OPTIONAL lvds was still in development for the board. (The operational word here being OPTIONAL) It uses a daughter board to do this so it might be wise to question the seller beforehand to determine if it is actually available. A onetime member here called zardoz used a laptop screen with a spectrah card for his HTPC setup. I haven't seen him here for over a year, but if you do a basic word search for lvds, and put zardoz in the user name search box you will find al kinds of posts about this board.
Thx sparkmaker.. I did a search, and I found some topics about this mobo but there was no information about results. So no one has used / bought this mobo.
BTW, "OPTIONAL" should not be operational word anymore, because this mobo is quite old. I mean LVDS connector development period should be finished 😉

Hello, hi how u doin lol ::: )
" How is this done? " is a good question...
You will need a connection cable, also you will need a power source for the panel. BTW I have that cable from 7 yrs old Siemens Nixdorf Laptop 😀 but it needs some cutting /soldering operation. I think you can find that kind of cable from your local laptop repair center / shop

Only VGA input

These are generic controllers, should drive virtually all TFT panels.... but I don't have a panel nor a controller to try it out.
They are made by:
http://www.kontron-hh.com/frame_start.html
http://www.1sourcecomponents.com in USA is selling them, not sure the price..... (search CRT2LCD1 or CRT2LCD2)
Anybody tried this controller? I know it can drive the Toshiba 10" XGA panel.

it had no brand or serial no.,, nothing
any whay
i have the cable that are used to make the pic. at the panel end it has 2 whits flat plugs and at the end that used to be the pc it has 40 aprox pins but its some kind of weard looking black plug.
i took out the back light and all the glass and lenses. so it is just the panel. tou can see through it ... just.
i neeed to know . can i plug this into any kind of video source, vga composite????
what controller would i need or video card.????????????

compleatly new idea.....
i noticed you all want to use lcd panels from laptops. if you have a working laptop with a network connection. you could use that network conection to your advantage..
you can download a program from mirosots website that lets you stream your screan or tv tuner what ever, across a net wok or the internet. so you could just take the back of your laptop screan off and put it into your projector set up but still have it conecterd to you laptop.
also you could just rum movies and games off you original lap top. just use the vga out for you main screne.and plug a new keyboad and mouse into the lap top...
but then again that is only if you have a working good laptop.

geforce4 mm 440-8x AGP
hey guys
i didnt want to go the whole hog and buy a motherboard for this idea...
however,
some of the NVidea GeForce MM 440 8x AGP have LVDS interfaces.
reckon it's possible to do the laptop lcd with these cards ??
cheers.

hi guys , I've been admiring your quest for the "unavailable"
I'm here to tell you that I have a fully working PC with 2 LCD's ripped out of dell laptops.
they are both 15 inch ... VERY NICE WIDE ANGLE.
i'm buying another PCI RADEON 7000 dual display to run dual card quad LCD. )))))))))))))))))
the way i did it was a bit tricky but very doable.
ALL LCD's are produced with the ANALOG pinouts on the PCB ... they are just never really used on laptops... i just soldered wires on them and fed them out
when you look at an analog connector :
1 RED 9 NC
2 GREEN 10 GND
3 BLUE 11 ID0
4 ID2 12 ID1
5 GND TEST 13 HS
6 GND 14 VS
7 GND 15 ID3
8 GND
the following pins do NOT need to be wired : 4,9,11,12,15
that leaves 1,2,3,5,6,7,8,10,13,14
now the best way i found was to use a DVI/VGA converter adapter(they go for about 9.99 canadian)
crack it open
now all that should remain is a black cable, a red cable and 2 small PCB boards.
NOTE that pin 1thru 8 are not used !!! which is all the DIGITAL SIGNALS pin outs.
now if you look , all i did was explain the inner core of a DVI/VGA adapter.
true however. now just connect the cables using the DVI input from a video card (or can be purchased for 7.99) and WIRE it back to use your laptop screen.
NOW ALL SCREENS USE DIFFERENT COLOR CODE ... the best way is to follow the wire on to the LCD BOARD and use common sense and feel (this is where i spent most of my time ...) there you will find the unused pinouts and the necessary used ones..
HOPE THIS HELPS ...
for the technical aspects of the computer.
