Does anyone know anything about these compression drivers? The first one is a ramsa (panasonic?) EAS45HD06C. I can find a few links to them for sale but none of them have any information.
The second one is an Acoustician Sound Engineer Model no. 4430. It seems they were also sold under the brand Zomax and I can find some info here.
Are these guys worth using or should I just sell them off and focus on the DE500's I already own? Are they worth buying some waveguides for and using? AFAIK compression drivers have come a long way in the past 20 years and I doubt these guys are any newer then that. I got them with 2 sets of HLCDs that are just too big for my car.

The stuff i have seen with that name on it is very poor Asian knock offs. An acquaintance had a pair of Acoustician JBL 2445 knock offs that had a huge notch in the frequency response about 3kHz and over all lousy response in general. They missed bad on the design theft of the phase plug. Another acquaintance had a pair of Acoustician JBL2405 knock offs with horrible build and casting quality and poor sound and measured frequency response.
My opinion is that even if you got them for free you got ripped off. If you want something that works and you account your time any value at all scrap them. It would be immoral to sell them. Yeah, can you tell I loathe them! Absolute junk.
Sorry to be mister bad news.
Barry.

I would say put them on a horn and measure them. The dip in the 2445 can happen because of diaphragm misalignment. Some cleaning of the gap and reinstallation of the diaphragm can fix the issue.
Anyway, there is no harm in measuring them, right? You can even open them and see how well they're built. Maybe post pics here... Give some back to the internet. 🙂

Since I basically got them for free, its not the end of the world if they are junk. What about the Ramsa's? Does anyone know anything about them?
I don't have any horns laying around so I have to buy some to test them. Any suggestions? I'm thinking a SEOS might not be a bad way to go.
