Evening all,
New guy here with a bit of a problem. I picked up a 3 piece separates set (640A,C & T) for a very cheap price of £90 with speakers, only to get home and discover the Amp suffered from a mid frequency hum/buzz. After a good scour around for answers I decided to lift the lid of it to discover what looks like 2 bad caps. C29 (2200uf) and C11 (220uf) if that makes sense? Could be more, I genuinely don't have a lot of knowledge in this field, but the two are definitely bulging.
I'm pretty articulate, can solder and I'm thinking about replacing these myself rather than fork out money I don't really have. Question being, can I upgrade these components to get better sound and if so, what to? I understand 3300uf each cap or 12000uf per rail was a popular mod but they're larger than the originals and a poor fit?
Can anyone point me in the right direction please with as much simplified info as possible to help me in my way?
Thanks in advance.
