California Audio Labs Alpha DAC - Gold Edition

I have for sale my California Audio Labs Alpha DAC just back(8/31/2016) from Approved Audio Service of Litchfield CT where Larry installed the special edition Gold boards with cap and transformer upgrades. This format was destined to be a part of Cal's SC-20 with a MSR of $10K before the company was bought out so they were going all out on this.

I had the opportunity to swap the complete boards into my chassis and Larry did just that. I have played the unit all is well but it has been a hard month for me and I must let go of equipment. This is one of my most valuable pieces so I offer it up.

Package is 14x18x9 inches and just under 15 pounds from Traverse City Michigan, USA 49685. I can ship USPS or FedEx as you wish. I don't make money off shipping. (For that fellow who asked it cost $115 to 08-530 Poland)

I also have the unit up for sale on that special interweb site we all love to hate; I must get word around. I'd rather sell it here to a fellow DIYaudio Guy.

Asking $800.00 plus shipping. It is practically a new unit, it is not even broken-in yet! I have 10 hours on it since it came back to me. So give it some time once you procure it 🙂

One small thing: the unit came with a crack in the ceramic socket which I repaired with non conductive epoxy, you'll never see it. Unit comes with pretty darn good, select, Sovtek 12ax7s in place. Tube rolling is highly encouraged 🙂

Please replace the socket(s) before selling. Tube sockets are not meant to be broken.

The socket is not broken - it is mended. In this case the ceramic was cast a bit too small and now the metal pins have the appropriate room to accommodate variation in pins 🙂
