Hello,
I have two MTX RT12-44 subwoofers laying around and I wanted to make a subwoofer with these.
I mostly listen to country and western, some dubstep/drum and bass and the good old Rock (Bands like Queen, Aerosmith.)
I already have build the kraken 2x12 with plays in the 20-70 Hz frequency range. I want it to sound tight and fast.
Space is not a big problem as long as it is 40 cm deep.
The T/S parameters are:
RMS Power : 250W
Max Power : 750W
Frequency response : 28Hz - 200Hz
Sensitivity : 92,0 dB/2,83v/1m
Fs : 28Hz
Re : 1,6Ohm
Z : 4Ohm + 4Ohm
Qms : 6,60
Qes : 0,78
Qts : 0,70
Vas : 68Liter
Mms : 164gr
Cms : 0,186mm/N
BL : 7,83N/A
Sd : 510cm2
Vd : 0,82Liter
Xmax : 16,0mm
Diameter : 30cm (12’’)
So which cabinet type would you build?
2 Different cabinets could that work?
Like one sealed and one vented?
Any links are also appreciated!
Thanks in Advance!

Are you using these to augment the Kraken or instead of? What is the desired response from the enclosure?
BTW: you should have used "advice". When you ask for advice someone will advise you-not being pedantic, my foreign family always wanted to be corrected and English is a bugger for those with it as a 1st language🙂

Well I want it to nicely play good on it's own. So I can move them when a friend of mine gives a party. I think a flat response from about 30 to maybe 200 or 200 hertz would be nice. I am still a bit new with this so I don't know what is possible with these subs. The datasheet says I should build a 30 L sealed enclosure for the best sound quality.
Thanks for the advice 😉
Thanks for the advice 😉
For a Qtc of 0.707 71.01litres would be the optimum per sub. 70.6cm x 45.01cm x 29.19cm dimensions. Ignore the manufacturers recommendation-that's for a car where we have the luxury of HUGE cabin gain to augment the LF output that you won't have in your house.
Ported enclosures will work too if you want extra output and deeper response-however the optimum is coming up at 3x the sealed volume.
Otherwise the subs may model well in a horn or transmission line arrangement-much better efficiency (if that's a bigger concern than a simple build) if that's a concern-but much harder for me to model!

Thanks a lot!
I already played a bit with designing a tapped horn with these subs, because I love the sound of the kraken. But I couldn't get a result I was satisfied with.
Do you have any Tutorials or Guides on designing horns?
I have Googled a bit but couldn't find anything.
I think it would be best to build a sealed box. A ported box is going to be a bit to big.

For horns there's horn reposnse, few guides floating around on that. Few other programmes-loads of threads running on here. Horn will be lots bigger than vented or sealed.
