This may seem like a stupid question, it probably is.
How does one go about removing the metal shield from these valves ? I have a couple of dead ones that I can practice on, but I would like a tip or two on what not to do.

Looks like it should be possible to pry open the cap around the bottom,
and maybe glue the base back on to keep the center guide-pin.

Hiya Svein,
I have found a design for a headphone amp on jogis Roehrenbude, i will probably have a go at it. There is a rather nice looking phono as well, I wouldn't build that as I already have too many Phono's.
I will grab a dead un and try to open it.
TTFN, Peter.
