Bright VGA CRT for rear projection?

I've recently discovered the joys of interlacing 2048x1536 resolution at 85hz on a 21" monitor. However, I'd like an even bigger display to really take advantage of the extra resolution--maybe a 35-40 inch diagonal would be nice! Since I'm going to be sitting near the display, it has to be rear projection.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I guess that starting off with a 15" flat screen monitor makes more sense than trying to start off with a large 21" monitor. A 15" CRT display would almost perfectly match the 8.5x11 inch transparency an overhead projector lens would have been designed for.

Has anyone done this sort of project? Do you know of any particularly bright 15" flat screen CRT monitors?

I'm a newbie, so I don't really know where to go scavenge a cheap overhead projector. I live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA. Is there an FAQ for tips on where to scavenge lenses and stuff? Should I just buy an overhead projector replacement lens from somewhere?

Note that the horizontal and vertical sync rates for an interlaced 2048x1536 display are equal to a 1024x768 display. Pretty much any 15" monitor can display 1024x768 at 85hz, so it'll be able to display 2048x1536 interlaced.

Also, I'm not worried about interlace flicker. On my 21" display, flickering at 85hz is already subdued. Flicker perception is highly tied to brightness, so there will be no flicker on the darker rear projection display.

Thanks!
