Over the last few years i've purchased several Class D / Tripath amps ( pre - assembled ) . They all seem to need a " break - in " period especially Tripath sounding much better after several days use . ( not getting involved with any arguments regarding this , just " in my experience " ) . But one thing i have noticed is initially they all seem to get hot when used for the first time after which they run much cooler . Any ideas as to why this would be , is it connected to this type of chip needing a " break in " ?
