It's got a little 2" driver. I'm curious, but that little driver can't be driven to more than 85 dBs or so. Would appear to be designed more for background listening.
According to the Alpair website, the 5.3 is 50mm. Bottlehead describes the Pipette as having a 2" driver.
Interesting diffraction rings. I think it’s somewhat of an odd duck, too small for hifi and too big for background listening. But what do I know? I thought Acoustimass would never sell.
Anyone catch on to the audiophile grade internal wiring?
The same designer also has a cute little “sub-woofer” rated down to an incredible 50Hz, and a matching class D amp.

It’s been more than a minute since I visited their website, and I noted their archived product pages makes no reference to the two pieces that I owned back in the day - the original Foreplay, and Paramour 2A3 monoblocks.
Is it just my fuzzy grampa brain but do I also remember they had a loose affiliation with Clark B?

Arthur; for what it’s worth, I never found any of the Alpairs particularly problematic with regards to diffraction. Been playing around recently with REW & miniDSP on both systems, but all measures have been from the MLP, so I’ve been thinking of rigging up a little turntable to facilitate nearfield off-axis of all 4 enclosure designs in the HT system just for ***** and giggles.
The rabbit hole of cables is much deeper than just $119 - add at least a decimal point for the audiophile approved ephemera.
And don’t get us started on the Quartz crystals and cable lifters.
