Hi all

I am in the middle of building a bosoz pre amp, but I will only be using the + input and + output. My question is if the following parts are necessary for my application:
C1, R9, R11, R8, and R14.

You don't need C1, R9, and R11 for sure.

I left R8 and R14 on mine. I ended
up installing a balanced input on mine. Son of
Zen's bride does good work as a
balanced-to-single-ended converter.

Just build it per the article. Short the negative input to ground.

Then when you want to use it as a unbalanced to balanced
converter (to run, say an Aleph 2) you're all set. I've run mine
unbalanced into an Aleph 3 for a while now and it sounds great.

I left out C1, R9, R11 and R8.

Has anyone done any modifications to the power supply for better sonics?

I made a minor adjustment by using a
choke-input filter after the rectifiers.

I can't say for sure that it made a colossal
improvent, but the basic quality of the
remaining crud was more of a hum than a buzz.

I suppose the hum would have driven me
crazy(*) more slowly than a buzz would, but I
still couldn't tolerate it. Therefore I ended up
adding the zener/source-follower
"regulator" from the article (lower voltage,
though, naturally).

Now it is plenty quiet enough for my listening
room where the ambient noise level is rather
higher than I'd like.
