Hi Gang,
Someone has offered me a Da-lite 96"x96" roll down screen at a good price. He says that it is Matte White with a smooth texture.
Which one will give better results? Blackout cloth or the Da-lite screen?
I am presently using OHP + LCD panel and projecting it on a 4'X8' sheet of Grey Melamine. The results on my Grey Melamine is quite good except for when WHITES are showing.
Which one will give better results? Blackout cloth or Da-lite screen?
I need to give this guy an answer ASAP and I don't want to lose this deal on the Da-lite screen. Quick responses would be greatly appreciated.
regards to All.

I made a screen with black-out cloth and it gives a good image but blacks are not blacks...not the best, but ok.
Da-lite screens are made spcifically for projectors so I believe you'll get a better picture from it.

I use Dalite 6X6 model B white matte screen and am happy with it. Black out cloth also has good reviews on this forum and other forum. Since LCD does not have a nice contrast, if you use black out cloth or Da-lite screen you might get better contrast if you put a coat or two of 5% grey (to bring the contrast) and a layer or two of clear gesso to get some sort of 3D effect and more reflection. I am not sure if you can do that with the Dalite screen. I am looking into that for my Da lite screen.
Hope this helps.

hold on, hold on.....
i think that Da-lite screen is superior on black out cloth, allthough you can get pretty close if you paint your black out colth with "gesso" in the AVS forum you find a whole section on this subject. some of these guys have gone to the extreme to see what emulates the real thing and they came up with some pretty interesting ideas. Also paint containing magnesium in it seems a good way out!
unfortunately this subject has not been touched in this forum.

even older model?
Even If it's an older Da-lite model (96"x96") ?
Have they changed over the years?
Thanks to all
