Black MDF in Canada?

I see that Troels Gravesen is real fond of black MDF and I like the way it looks.

He just stained it black (ebony wood stain) and didn't mention that fact in the build documentation. If you're still unsure, why not eMail him and ask?

in some builds, yes, in some builds, no. He uses a lot of black MDF in his builds.

I saw those guys. They looked like the best bet (at least for sheer availability) but possibly not in DIY quantities.

I was only aware of the black stuff he purchased from Winwood.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll probably stain regular MDF if I don't have any success. The need is not immediate so I have time.

Black is tricky to get as You've discovered.
IF after MDF ..Do suggest holding out for Medite X though.
It's water resistant (MDF sux up even Ambient humidity) and a bit denser than regular Medite. Mo' $$ tho 😀
Though in truth regular cheap Particle Board is Arguably 😉 a better enclosure material than MDF. Definitely so if layered with 1/4" (1/2"?) Birch ply
