BIC Venturi V52 crossovers...

I just picked up a pair of these from some guy from craigslist and they are not bad at all. I am happy with them, but from what I've read on the net, a lot of people get crossover work done with them. But nobody ever says what work is done! Do they change the cossover frequency? I can't find any info on where these crossover because they do sound a little bit too midy and the higher end trebble just isn't there to me. I didn't expect there to be much bass as they only have 5 1/4 in woofers, but it just seems like there is too much midrange with them. Does anybody know anything about what crossover work is done with these?

According to the relative publication, the crossover frequency is Hz 5,000.
