Beyma 15LX60V2 or SM-115K?

I want opinions about these two 15" woofers. both are well-regarded. SM-115K with 27hz fs and 15LX60 with higher fs of 42hz but simulates better than SM-115K, and it's absolutely eye-catching device with ribbed cone and... price aside, which one is a better choice to be used in BR cabinet from lowest bass up to 400Hz?

OP,
As was said look at the massive Xdamage of the Beyma 15LX60V2 (47mm*) more 17mm than the Beyma SM115/K for a good sub. Compare F12 for the former 23 Hz vs. 28 Hz for the last.
* Meaning Xmech=23.5 mm, to use those 700/1400 W in the 20Hz region.

That being said, I did not had the chance to listen to 15LX60V2. I am the owner of Beyma SM115K(while it was still marked as Beyma 15K200 in the old catalog) and that is one of the best bass drivers I have heard so far. I have it in 120 L cabinets and as a reference I listened to JBL 2235H, JBL 2245H and TAD 1601. If we are comparing its performance against the ones numbered - differences are minor. Only JBL 2245H goes significantly lower but at a cost of some definition. Great performer and very good sound.

Like I said. It is a great bass driver but not for subwoofers for home use if you want to drive it into 20-30hz domain. 40hz and up to 500hz I would say definitely sm115k. I actually don't mind sacrificing 30hz bass if 40hz and up is good by my standards (definition is the key for me).

Cheers 🙂

Wonder how the 18LX60V2 compares to the units you have listed?

I am using two 15LX60v2 per speaker in large MTMs with a crossover frequency of 650 Hz. I am quite content with them. I know of someone who used it even up to 1200 Hz.

I could imagine that a TAD or the like might be better in terms of Resolution but one TAD 1601 would cost more than all four of my Beymas together.

I use them in ca 280 Liters, tuned to slightly below 30 Hz. This is not the most efficient tuning and but it gives a nice in-room response.
