Best way to repair loose RCA jacks

Some my equipment is getting flakey. Damn RCA connectors, my minidisc player at home and my Crossover unit in my car both have loose RCA jacks. I tried to resolder them but they're still intermittant. What am I doing wrong? Whats the best way to repair these connections?

(yes I do know how not to make a non-cold solder joint) and I can solder thin or thick wires but RCA jacks seem to give me a difficult time.

Replace them (both plugs and sockets) with quality parts.

But a cheap trick is coating the plug pin with solder
to improve its tightness of fit into the phono socket.
