Hi
I have another question , I am happy owner of VDH Revelation speaker cables , unfortunately connectors have aged and need to be replaced.
I have found Mundorf spade connectors , and my question is how to make the best soldering connection , try to use butane soldering gun , drop some solder into the fork , heat fork up till solder starts melting and dip cable in it?
Any other ways to achieve good connections?
Best Regards
Slav

As a general rule for heavy gauge wire and connectors I find it essential to tin the wire first and the connector perhaps then removing excess with braid before fitting cable to connector. Then heat and apply fresh solder at the same time.

I often use a gas for heavy work and have even used two, the gas iron and a 60 watt temp controlled iron with a large bit.

Whatever works really, and you'll know straight away if the joint is good. I also try and shunt heat from any plastic insulation to keep it all neat.
