Best SS Rectifier

I believe about everyone know this, but will post. The best zero noise rectifier is Cree. Regular SS diodes make noise, the Cree does not. Cree act like a quality tube rectifier, but have very low voltage drop and can perform on tube amps or SS amps that a tube cannot.

Cree has changed name to Wolfspeed in 2021 for their semiconductor branche.

There are quite good Schottky type diodes by various brands available and for the true hardcore nitpickers there are "ideal rectifiers" based on LT4320 etc. They generally have very low Vf and are incomparable with tube rectifiers in about all specifications.

Dunno how they act but to me they sound nothing like a tube rectifier and especially nothing like a nice mercury vapour rectifier. Some of which can easily supply more than 6A DC.

As for SS, the obvious good sounding choice, again according to my ears, is to use mosfets instead of diodes in a sync rectifier.

So, no, not everyone knows this 🙂
