Picked these up today for £5 at the second hand shop in Portsmouth...😀

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

They are actually part of a cheapish Pure DAB music centre. Absolutely TINY at 2 litres. And very listenable with quite decent bass. 4 ohms, 20W RMS. You want to see inside, bellwire an' all?

You'd expect that coil and capacitor network at this price point, but really very nicely made. Everything you'd expect in a bigger speaker but SMALL. The tweeter is an enclosed cone like the Visaton TW70. The woofer not dissimilar to a Visaton W100S.

I modelled the Visaton drivers in a 5 Litre closed box to see how they faired with First order, and then with a PROPER JOB 2nd/3rd Order for interest. Hope you enjoyed that. 😎

I disagree. I'm rather pleased with them. When you stuff the reflex with tissue, they are still acceptable in the bass too. Very good for late night listening while not disturbing the neighbours.

I wanted to evaluate the cone tweeter really. We'll have to see how the TW70 responds to a second order filter I think. The W100S and TW70 are looking good for a Beovox P30 style 5-10L wallmounter (reflex or closed) IMO. They work together very nicely with phase alignment to die for. 😎

Hi,

Good or bad, its not really helpful to any one else as they can't buy them.
They are not the Visaton drivers, its pointless to pretend that they are.

Right now, Richer Sounds "Tibo Edge" at £20 a pair is worth looking at.
If they could work with a sub or be the mid /treble of a 3-way its good.
Same with the £30 Gales or the £40 Wharfedales, in the latter case you
couldn't hope to buy just the drivers for the retail cost.

I've had good success in the past buying cheap Richer Sound speakers
for spare parts and cheap but decent driver replacements, e.g. plastic
Aristons for £10 a pair, with drivers that were very good midranges.

Pair of nice terminals, pair of (naffish) tweeters, nice metal grilles
and some useable wall mounting hardware was all a bonus.
Dirt cheap, but the (bass)/mid drivers were very good.

rgds, sreten.
