Best point to join secondaries

Hi,

I was wondering, what is the best place to join two secondary power transformer windings of identical voltage to form a +/- supply voltage, when I have some length of wire between transformer and rectifier? At the transformer, running one wire to the rectifier capacitors middle, or at the caps, running two wires to that point, maybe twisting two together, respectively?

Neither.
try joing the two transformer windings and a 0V from the smoothing caps at a point physically half way between. It will not make much difference where along this line that the join is made but do not put it on the wire/plate between the caps.

Use the join as your power ground for all other parts of the amplifier.

Hi AndrewT, thank you for your answer.

I have decided to join the windings at their endings, which are maybe 6 inches hanging out from the transformer. From there, in the configuration I will be using, one 0V line is sent along with the +/- and a seperate grounding wire to the rectifier and amplifier in another chassis. In this other chassis need to be another point for the power grounds, maybe somewhere between the chassis entry of the 0V wire and the smoothing caps?
