What DVD titles capture the best that the format can deliver? I mean that both in video quality and surround sound audio. I don't see many producers mastering the format and I fear a lot of surround sound in the popular DVD titles is just processed stereo.
What DVD titles have you been impressed by? Anyone had their socks blown off?
My current favorite is Lee Ritenour's Overtime - just for the "being there" ambience.

When I demo a S.Sound system, I use The Matrix. If you go to the scene when they go to rescue Morphious and have a shoot-out with everyone.
I have a copy of the 3D animated feature of 'Final Fantasy'. Because there's no real footage or audio actually recorded, both have to be designed and produced from scratch in the studio.
The soundtrack is amazing and makes full use of the surround format. The sci fi nature of the content obviously lends itself to this treatment too, as opposed to say ... a Woody Allen film 🙂

Download Dolby Digital and 5.1 Trailers and burn them to a DVD theres some really good ones that go through each channel. The orchestra is my favorite. They are free to download in .vob format
Have you tried any of the Indiana Jones movies? I seem to recall aircraft flying past my head.

Apologies for digging up an old thread but I'm bored and killing time at work before my holidays...
Kraftwerk: Minimum Maximum.
No sounds "whizzing above your head", but the ambiance of the venue and the mix on the DTS track is incredible, including giving the sub a good work out!
