Wondering which microphone and which software are "best in budget" class for eq/room correction. Wondering which pay-for software is good and also which "free" software is also decent. Thank you.
Hi,
Rew is freeware and dedicated to the task ( not only for loudspeakers!).
Any measurement microphone you could use for loudspeaker measurement should do: from Dayton or equivalents to Dpa or Earthworks.

Thanks for the replies and the help. Getting closer to my objective now and I have the REW software downloaded and installed. Debating whether to go the budget route with this little guy:

or going with the more tried and true big brother at a greater expense:

Hi,
I would prefer the big brother. Not that the smallest one should not be good but it's shape let me think it may induce diffraction issues.
What is your soundcard?

Hi soundquest,
Ok but for your mic you'll need a (mic) preamp and an ADC.
I would stay away from an usb integrated mic as stated by AllenB (for another reason than the one given by Allen though -read until message 23: https://www.diyaudio.com/forums/multi-way/369473-sensitivity-measurement-2.html#post6576801).
Something like this (second hand) should be plenty and highquality enough:
Scarlett 2i2 | Focusrite
You'll need xlr cable, schockmount and a stand too.
