Hello,
I'a looking for info about this cd. Some pages mentiones that it is based on Philips CD150 and it is 16bit CD. I've checked that has CD150 has tda1540 and it is 14bit.
I'am tring to buy cdx 2 but I dont know if it can be modified to have spdif output. CD150 had saa7020 where spdif cannot be easly added.
I suspect CDX 2 has tda1541 inside but what about saa?
Regards

This implies CDX 2 was a 16 bit model and didn't use the CD 104 circuit (TDA 1540)

But here

there is it was derived from Philips CD150 and it is saa7020 and tda1540. Ok you can swap tda1540 in this configuration for tda1451.
But on some massgae borad (I don't remember where) some one was writting that cdx 2 can have added spdif which is not posible (or very hard) on saa7020

I will be graceful.
Do you have it electronic or paper form?
Any chance for scan ? (I know I'm pushing my luck)

of course there is a group of freaks (including myself) who actually like the sound of the TDA1540. I have a modified CD104 which I think sounds very good. I have a personal attachment to this player but if it broke I would get a B&O CDX (104 with B&O styling)
I think space will be hard in the CDX as there will be little internal space. So major mods will be hard, but cap replacement is easier
