I can get a free non working Cambridge Soundworks Basscube 10s but I have to drive a half an hour both ways to pick it up. I was thinking if these sound decent and I can fix it up for cheap than what the hey.
From what I read online these are notorious for breaking. Is it worth driving and getting? Anybody have any experience with these?

Hi,
Depends how good you are at fixing stuff and lots of other things.
rgds, sreten.
I guess we are going to find out😉 I am on my way to get it now.
The driver is good and there is power just no sound out of it.
Anybody have a schematic for this?
Thanks

I got it working but if you turn the volume up past halfway it goes into protection mode.
Any suggestions?

Hi,
Information overload ..... not ......
How did you get it working ? How do you know
halfway is not overload for the level your driving it ?
Does it go into protection mode with no input ?
Might indicate a stabilty issue .....

Well I saw there was no power going to the IC's and while doing some probing I heard the relay click back in. So not really sure what I did.
I am thinking the vibration of the sub when I turn it up past half is what is tripping the relay. On the bench with no load I get up to 28vrms clean sine waves but when I tap the circuit board it trips the relay into protection mode.
At the same volume level setting where it was going into protection mode I get 18v out with 1.6v 100Hz sine waves going to the inputs. I believe the amp is rated for 75watts so maybe it is the protection circuit kicking in under load because that's in the ballpark for output power.
A schematic would help but some web searching turned up nothing. Maybe if I contact the manufacturer they can send me a service manual.

Question
did you ever get the Basscube-10s working? I have the same issue and was wondering if you got to the bottom of the problem

if it's reacting to tapping on the board i would pull out the magnifying glass and check all solder joints for intermittant/cracked joints
