About 6 months ago I traded with a local audio buddy for a pair of BetsyK's. I've been wanting to build Paul's TL's for them, but my wife has had other ideas for what I should be doing in the shop. So they have waited patiently for a home.
Over a year ago another audio buddy left me with a pair of old school horn cabinets that he was going to throw out. They made it in from the garage finally before winter and a few weeks ago the BetsyK's found their way into the cabinets. The cabinets are far from a great design for a fullranger. You can see why in the pictures. Heck, I don't even know what the design is.
Overall results.....other than the fact that most of the highest highs get eaten up by the driver being so far back in the cabinet, they sound very good. Bass is the thing that has really amazed me. And if seated with the drivers at ear level, there is more than enough high end. As I have always thought these Wild Burro drivers are really a great buy.
Next I'll put them into an old sealed cabinet and see what they can do with a little sub assistance.

that's what I would call a heavy beauty 
most horns built in the old days were never calculated properly
or were used with wrong drivers
it was mostly a case finding the right driver
Original older Lowthers had drivers mounted a bit back, like yours
mainly because they had front baffle tilted
the clever Lowther guys solved the problem by mounting small waveguide baffles around the driver
maybe you could use a bit of felt here and there
and I would tilt the horn slightly backwards

The cabinets look quite nice, so I'd try tinitus's foam idea first, as it's a very quick thing to try.
