B200, corner loaded bass reflex?

Hi I'm looking for an enclosure for the B200 that will work well in a corner. I'm considering a 175L bass reflex tuned to 40Hz. The enclosure I prefer is roughly rectangular except the front baffle is angled in about 15 degrees. It is 48" high, 24" wide, 15" deep on one side and 10" deep on the other side.

Smallish alternative: aperiodic. See the Omega speakers A8. Shouldn't be too difficult to clone. The dimensions are on the 6moons audio review of the speakers, you'll need 2 of those Scan-Speak aperiodic vents per enclosure. Add some damping to the magnet / basket, add some bracing, smere the internals with some form of damping compound, and you should be sorted. Won't go as low, obviously, but it should get down to the mid 40Hz regions, especially in a corner, and sound nicely damped, and still be an easy load. Just a thought.
 
Those A8's look good. The thing is that I'm pretty much tied to making corner speakers of roughly those dimensions. It seems like a waste not to use all the volume available. Sure I can put legs on a smaller speaker, or section off the interior, but it's not often I can find a place for a 175L enclosure.

I'm restricted because there are a couple of decorative tables in the corners where the speakers are going to go. I've got to replace them. That rules out the BIB or any other speaker over "decorative table height".

There are nothing but raves for the B200. I'd like to try them out. The BR design is sufficient, but GM's ML-TQWT is significantly better. It has a lower tuning frequency AND more output across the board. I just can't build something quite that big.
 
The B200 are great drivers. I thought the BIB was talking resently about the Pioneer B20. I will have to reread the thread.

O' food for thought, the B200 beams alot. In open baffle it has taken me a while to set up the sound stage correctly. It might suit you better to use the smaller A8 design, If your stuck putting the cabs in the corners.
 
I would be affraid of a broad peak from 130 down to 40 Hz in your simulation. This driver has a very high Q, so it will be hard to get a tight bass in BR alignment.

Have you checked the kits, developed for this driver? Here is one interesting example:

Actually, I'd love to see the day when smaller speakers would not be OK in my house and I'm asked to make them bigger.
How about making 75l aperiodic boxes for B200 and another pair of 100l subs with Linkwitz Transform and 12-15" woofers, crossed over at 40-50Hz? Tune them to Q=.5 and they will match widerangers in speed and tightness nicely.

It's a go then on the BR. Now I'm really excited. :smash: Just a standard BR, or is there something special about the enclosure you're using? Port is front firing? Maybe I'll tune it 5Hz lower to get some extra protection on the low end. I don't think the whole house is 5000sqft 😀

Actually the high Q works out well with the high fs. If I add a couple ohms of series resistance the peak narrows. It is centered around fs (55Hz). It should give it some kick, rather than sounding mushy.

The more I play around with the sims the more I appreciate how carefully they designed this driver.
 
The peak would be narrow enough even without additional resistance. Qtc is .9 for this driver. In a closed box you would get Q above 1.0, which to me sounds like a one-note boooom...
In a vented box you will get a two-wave ripple. I cann't model it right now, but would guess at least +-3-4dBs. First peak would be around 120-150 Hz. Second - below 50.
It's a question of taste for sure, but I don't like it. Couple years ago I've got a Linkwitz Transform (Marchand "Bassis") with Q adjustable on the fly. I've tried everything from 1.2 down to .25. After long listening to a variety of music I settled down on Qts=.5.
Another problem with such tuning is that the driver would become unloaded below port tuning very rapidly. With limited Xmax of this driver in a large box it would bottom out at couple Watts of power.
I am almost temped to say that with corner loading, providing guarantied boost of at the very least 12 dB, and ability to have 175l, you may be much better off with multi-chamber apperiodic alignment of North Creek invention:
