Does anybody have the diagrams for the different versions of the B&W 801 (or the 802) models. Would like to compare the differences between the different versions, starting with the original 801, then 801 matrix, 801 series 2, 801 jub. and finally 801.3 - would be interesting to see the development, especially since the drivers basically remainded the same (except from the tweeter)

No crossovers schematics here..
But I know they lost the protction circuitry in S2/S3. Also used larger ferrite Inductors in S3 vs. aircore in series 80.
I own 801/80 and 801/S3.... I like the 801/80 better... but the S3 plays more louder...

Funny, have the same experience - I think the closed box version of the 80 has something to do with it - allthough the tweeter of the s2/s3 model, is imho, better. However the 80 model did actually exist in at least two models - one with APOC (protection circuit with battery) and one without.
The reason I really would like to see all schematics side by side, is to try and understand the evolution and what parts make what differences.

Mine was the later generation Series 80 (not series F) without the battery. Also mine did not have the hood etc.
I recall somewhere in the S3 that they tried to reduce component count for purity of signal.... that tells me the S2 probably has a flatter response (i.e. more tailored).
I guess I am one of the few that like the earlier tweeter... maybe because I have a Hafler DH-500 driving the S3 and a Krell driving teh 80. 😉

Sounds like the same model as I have. In regards to the crossovers I only have to compare (visually) the S3 to my 80 (have both) and there is a HUGE difference. Not only in the number of components, but also layout etc.
I think there is something to be learned here if one ever wants to build crossovers for a diy project.

Forgot - I have actually changed the tweeters on my 80's to series 3 types. Worth while, in my oppinion..
Also, not to get carried away from the topic, but you should really exchange the speaker binding post to a better quality - the ones installed from B&W are the worst piece of %&%¤¤ I have ever seen. This applies to all the models 80 to S3
