B&C compression drivers: DE250 vs DE550

I am using the DE250 on a QSC clone waveguide, crossed at 1250Hz, with digital EQ and the sound is great. I want to try the DE550 for higher output in a PA setting.

The DE550 is less sensitive in the top octave and I am wondering if (on a constant directivity horn) that's going to cancel out any headroom I get on the bottom end.

Can anyone comment on the subjective sound quality between these two drivers (polyimide vs "polymer" diaphragm) when pushed up to the edge of their power handling?

Thanks.

The DE550 sounds like a good idea for more clean output in a 1" exit package. The bottom end is much more important than a little loss of sensitivity on top.

They will sound very similar once eq'd with the DE550 most likely having a cleaner sound at high levels due to the larger diaphram and being a more recent software optimized design.
